The Training Programs for Hiking & Mountaineering

At Vertical Performance, we’ve spent over 11 years combining sport science with real-world expedition experience to create a training system that bridges the gap between the gym and the mountain.

Because let’s be honest—generic fitness won’t prepare you for 12-hour summit pushes, steep descents, and altitude that tests everything you’ve got.

You don’t need a random plan; you need a structured, mountain-specific strategy that works.

And that’s exactly what our programs deliver.

each designed to meet you where you are, and take you to your strongest, most capable self on the mountain.

This program gives you a progressive, week-by-week mountain-specific training roadmap—including descent sessions, footwork drills, knee stability, mobility, and balance. Practical and structured, it’s designed by a sport scientist and mountaineer so you’re not just “getting fit,” you’re preparing for the exact demands you’ll face.

This program combines mountain-specific training, nutrition, gear support, and performance psychology with targeted disruption sessions that reflect real mountain demands. You’ll work with a coach who adapts your plan, keeps you accountable, and makes strategic adjustments as your progress evolves.

One-to-One Coaching and Complete Expedition Preparation

You’ll work directly with our head coach, Kate, receiving the highest level of coaching and support across training, nutrition, gear, recovery, expedition strategy, and performance psychology. Through disruption sessions and expectancy violations, you’ll prepare for real mountain demands—not just a controlled training environment.
